The three events will be located on the Upper Mall and will be free for all to see and for the general public to participate in on Saturday 21st September

Each table will be equipped with pitches belonging to a specific Subbuteo era. This living museum will connect players and the public with the history of Subbuteo and Tunbridge Wells’ Subbuteo production. ESA will issue the list of the range of approved playing figures together with the rules of the game. Each day will culminate in a presentation of trophies and medals.

Friday 20th September The individual Subbuteo Old School WC Event organised by the ESA. An international individual tournament will be held on 10 tables.  Individual players will represent their country to compete for the Subbuteo Old School Nations WC.

Saturday 21st September Subbuteo Fun day. The ESA will invite families and members of the public to participate in a fun day for all ages and abilities. It is all about celebrating Tunbridge Wells and the Subbuteo heritage. A trip down memory lane for many local people and a discovery for the youngest. The fun day will take place on 10 tables with a combination of regular matches and skills competitions. The ESA will advertise this tournament locally to enrol members of the public and engage with the consumers who want to participate. We will have a contingent of expert players involved as well to fill gaps, coach the new players and facilitate their learning.

Sunday 22nd September The Team Subbuteo Old School WC Event organised by the ESA. An international team tournament will be held on 9 tables.  The teams will be composed by 3 players with up to 2 reserves representing their Nation.

Nicky Blanchard, Centre Manager at Royal Victoria Place, said: “We are delighted to be able to host these fabulous events, most especially as the game was invented by a local resident, Peter Adolph approximately 76 years ago.  We very much hope that our visitors will enjoy this unusual opportunity.”

The ESA Chairman, Alan Lee said ”We are so incredibly grateful to RVP for hosting our global event.  Players from all over the world will join the people of Tunbridge Wells to experience this very special celebration of Subbuteo. There will be fun events for people of all ages to get involved with, as we go on a journey of rediscovery of the town’s heritage”.
