Summer Fun at RVP!

Summer Fun at RVP from 22nd July- During the summer school holiday period this year RVP will be holding 6 weeks of family activities starting Monday 22nd July and ending 28th August.  We will have activities on every Monday and Wednesday during this 6 week period.

  

Week 1

Children’s Shows with “Once Upon a Wish Events”

Monday 22nd July – “Neverland Nonsense”

A Fairytale storybook themed show with Tink, Peter and Pirate. 

Showings at 10:00, 11:15, 13:00, 14:15 & 15:30.

 

Wednesday 24th July – “POW ZAP BOOM”

A Superhero themed show with the Wonderhero, Spider and The American Captain. 

Showings at 10:00, 11:15, 13:00, 14:15 & 15:30.

 

 

Week 2

Art workshops

Monday 29th July – Glass mural making workshop with local artist Claudia Wiegand. 

To decorate 12cm diameter glass circles that will go towards creating a glass mural to be on permanent display in Royal Victoria Place.  5 x workshop with a max of 7 participants per workshop.

Wednesday 31st July – Art workshop with local artist Jacque Rickard.  ‘Birds Flying High’ – drawing and stencil printing. 

Inspired by a painting created by local artist Jacque Rickard, visitors will design their own A4 image using pencils and pens to create a colourful base image, and then use printing ink on a stencil to create a beautiful printed top layer.   Jacque will take you through the process step by step, with all equipment and materials provided so visitors of all ages can take part.  A unique, fun and easy technique with everyone creating their own mini masterpiece to take with them!  5 x workshops during the day with a max of 10 participants per workshop.

Week 3

Storytelling

Monday 5th August – Storytime for toddlers. 

Come along for a storytime session with local author and book publisher, Mama Makes Books, who will be reading and sharing books that are perfect for toddlers.  

Readings at 10:00, 11:15, 13:00, 14:15 & 15:30.

 

Wednesday 7th August – Storytelling with local author and artist, Keith Siddle

Join Keith whilst he reads from his books, shares his illustrations and does a “how to draw” his little Angelica fish character. 

Readings at 10:00, 11:15, 13:00, 14:15 & 15:30.

 

 

Week 4

Children’s Shows with Once Upon A Wish Events

Monday 12th August – “Princess versus Superheroes”

Step into a magical world where two worlds collide! Who will be crowned victorious?  Will pixie dust powers reunite both worlds and teach a valuable lesson? With audience participation, and fun a plenty this supertastic session is the perfect summer treat for all of the family.

Wednesday 14th August – “Cinders Lost Glove”

A fairytale themed show with The Charming Prince, Beauty and Cinders.

Week 5

Art workshops

Week 6

Storytelling

Monday 26th August – Storytime for 5 to 8s

Local children’s author and publisher Mama Makes Books will be sharing some fascinating non-fiction and captivating picture books in this storytime for primary children. 

Readings at 10:00, 11:15, 13:00, 14:15 & 15:30.

 

Wednesday 28th August – Storytelling with local author Alex Brooks. 

A fun filled day of storytelling, where Alex will be reading her own books and some favourites.  This will be followed by Q&A session and book signing.  Giveways of stickers and activities sheets.
